At the 183rd Ordinary Session of the National Diet in 2013, the conclusion of the Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction (the Hague Convention) was approved, and the Act on Implementation of Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction (the Implementation Act) was enacted. In response to this, the Government of Japan decided at its Cabinet Meeting to sign, accept, and promulgate the Hague Convention, and carried out the signing and deposit of the instrument of acceptance of the Hague Convention at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands.
